Welcome to my Fifth Grade Class!  Students in my class make up one third of "Team Portable", along with Mrs. Lewis' fifth grade class and Mrs. McGillivray's 4/5 split class.

Our team has switched things up a bit this year. In order to maximize instructional time, each of us will teach different subjects in a rotation to all three of our classes every day of school. This will prepare our fifth graders for the middle school (only a year away, YIKES!). Mrs. Lewis will teach Math, Mrs. McGillivray will teach English Language Arts, and I will be teaching Science and Social Studies. We intend on blending our students' learning across subject areas as much as possible.

A little more about Ms. Z.....

I have been an educator since 2006. I started out volunteering as a mentor for at-risk youth in a middle school and immediately knew teaching was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Since then, I've taught pre-K through college and everything in between, but most of my experience is with 4th and 5th graders.  I have a BA in Philosophy from the University of Rhode Island and a Master's in Teaching from the University of Washington. I have been teaching at Wolfle since 2015.

Besides teaching fifth grade, some of my favorite things are: exploring nature and looking for wildlife (especially birds and whales), farming and gardening, reading non-fiction books, telling jokes and stories, making music, and spending time with friends and family. I also love drinking coffee and eating fresh baked goods.
