Graders. They brainstormed a list of their secret methods for choosing
the perfect book.
Find another one by a favorite author.
Read the back cover.
Use the computer to look up a subject and go from there.
Read a paragraph in the book and decide if you like it.
Try the five finger test on a book that looks interesting.
Choose another one in a favorite series.
Look at the cover. Does it look interesting?
Check to see if it is on your reading level.
Talk to a friend who has read the book.
Read the summary inside the front cover.
Look at the pictures on the front cover.
If you've seen the movie you may like the book.
Always look for nonfiction.
Read a few pages and see how you like it.
Ask your teacher, librarian, or friends for titles.
What did your parents or grandparents use to read?
Take a guess.
Look for books with awards.
Is the title written in an interesting way?
Find fiction about a favorite topic.
Check the Top 10 list in the online catalog.
Look at the pictures in the book, even little ones.
Read a page in the middle where it is most exciting.
Look for books with characters you like.
